Running parallel to the eastern border of New York State and stretching from the northern border with Canada to its southern terminus in the Bronx, Route 22 encompases a wide array of landscapes and cultures. For me it represents the perfect microcosm of the country on a whole. It starts in a dense population center that leads to wealthy, hip suburbs and into the depths of rural life.
